Lay Witness Sunday, traditional observed the 2nd Sunday in October, however any Sunday is fine. Lay Witness Sunday provides lay persons with the opportunity to witness about our faith in Jesus Christ and our commitment to fulfilling His mission in the world. This event was established for lay persons to carry out the morning worship services at their respective local church. Traditionally, Lay Witness Sunday recognized the work and mission of all laity, which takes place within and outside the walls of the AME Church. Our theme this year is “I am a Witness” with scripture reference Matthew 28:19-20.
In the November edition of the Lay Express, we would like to recognize the WNCC laity COVID-19 Frontline workers. We will recognize not only laity that are members of the WNCC-LO organization but also non-lay members. We are hoping that this will encourage non-ordain persons to join the lay organization. Email the information to firstname.lastname@example.org. on or before October 26th. Please send a picture (if available) your name, church and pastor name, lay president (if applicable) and your job: Community Health Workers, doctors, nurses, EMTS, Firefighters, Pharmacists, transportation and delivery drivers, janitorial and sanitation workers, grocery/service clerks, postal carriers and clerks, maintenance and warehouse worker, cooks, chefs and servers, office staff, etc.
Registration is open for our 1st Virtual Clergy and Lay Institute – Church During Unprecedented Times: “Doing A New Thing in Christ!” Look! I’m doing a new thing . . .” Isaiah 43:19 on November 14th at 10 am. We will have an open dialogue with the Presiding Elders in understanding the Pastor’s Compensation.
