This year, the CLO will compile a list of the various Lay Organizations who observe Lay Witness Sunday.  Please forward the name of the church/ lay organization, location of the church/organization, the time and name of the speaker for the event to ameclayorg@gmail.com by September 15, 2018.   


Lay Witness Sunday
Officially, the Connectional Lay Witness Day was designated for observance throughout the AME Church on the 2nd Sunday during the month of October, at the Eleventh Biennial Session, in 1969.  Lay Witness Sunday provides laypersons with the opportunity to witness about their faith in Jesus Christ and their commitment to fulfilling His mission in the world.  This event was established for lay persons to carry out morning worship services at their respective local churches. Traditionally, Lay Witness Sunday recognizes the work and mission of all laity, which takes place within and outside the walls of the AME Church.
The Quadrennial theme approved by Connectional Lay Organization (2017-2021) is: Laity Walking humbly with God to Do Justice and to Love Kindness. The scripture reference is And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?  Micah 6:8 (NASB)

Fellow Laity, We are so excited about our 17th SEDLO Convention!!  So on behalf of the President, this email is being sent to you to share with your membership.
We need 200 or more delegates at our Convention!!  All are welcome to attend & observe!!We can do it!!

1- Please be reminded that we will be at the Newport  News Marriott at City Center, Newport News, Virginia,September 27-29, 2018.  For hotel reservations, please call, 757-873-9299, reservation for Lay Organization, A.M.E. Church.  Room rate is $124.00 plus tax each night.

2- We need as many laypersons actively involved as we focus on “Social Justice: Empowering the People” during the Convention. Therefore, we know that you are on top of convention registration deadlines:

$150.00                       Regular Registration       Until June 30, 2018

$75.00                         Young Adult (18-35)       Until June 30, 2018

$175.00                       Late Registration:            July 1- September 1, 2018

$200.00                       On-site Registration

3- Per constitution, remember to encourage local organizations to participate also!!             f. Each President from each organized Station, Mission or Circuit Lay Organization and six (6) elected delegates and at least one (1) shall be a young adult age 18-35.

4- Lastly, please forward immediately to President Patterson, the name  & contact info for the various committees for the Lay Convention. Again, we are expecting blessings beyond measure at our 17th SEDLO Convention!!  We want each of you to be present to experience an exciting convention !!

Implementation of the Mirroring Ministry in the Local Church – updated 8.05.18

Attached are tools to use in the implementation of the mirroring ministry in the local church. The powerpoint presentation  is an excellent tool to kick off the implementation of the mirroring project in your local churches.

I ask that the Pastors send me the name(s) of the member responsible for facilitating the discussion, organizing, compiling, etc immediately (this information will be shared with Bishop Davis).  Also,  after the Pastor shares the summaries with the church, please email the summaries to me.  Summaries from each church are due to me on or before Saturday, September 1, 2018.  Please do not wait until September 1 to email me the information.  If you have completed the mirroring ministry and the Pastor has shared the information with the local church,  email me the summaries. You may use my personal email penny.oliver52@yahoo.com .

Rev  Michael Bowden, Rev Dr. Allonia Holmes and Rev Jacqueline V. Robertson are the Pastors assigned to assist with this ministry.
