Happy Father’s Day

Father’s Day Blessings from the Western North Carolina Conference Lay Organization to YOU!

Lord, please bless our fathers, these men who mean so much to us, who are greatly responsible
for who we are and who we are becoming. Bless them for having the courage to do what’s necessary to keep us out of trouble, for making us do the right thing, for helping us build our character,
even when it makes us angry; and bless them for pushing us to do our best, even when they just want to love us.  Bless our fathers for being our protectors, for leading us through stormy times to safety,
for making us believe that everything will be all right and for making it so.
Bless our fathers for quietly making a living to provide for those they love most, for giving us food, clothing, shelter and other necessary and not so necessary material things, for unselfishly investing time and money in us that they could have spent on themselves.
Bless our fathers, Lord, for saving some energy for fun, for leading us on adventures
to explore the outer reaches of ourselves, for making us laugh, for being our playmates and our friends.
Bless them for being our secure foundation, our rock, for holding on tight to us…until it’s time to let us go.
Lord, bless these men we look up to, our role models, our heroes, our fathers.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen. By Joanna Fuchs

We look forward to your attendance at our next Lay Conference meeting on August 8th at 10 am at Turners Chapel, 7615 Florence School Drive, High Point, NC.

Happy Father’s Day and thank you for your willingness to serve!

Emmanuel AME Church – Catalyst for Renewed Action

A Message from the Global President
Dr. Willie C. Glover
Connectional Lay Organization

As our sisters and brothers of Emmanuel AME Church spoke with God, our brothers and sisters went home to eternal rest. I’m told that there are some survivors and one person reported that the killer kept him/her alive to tell what happened. Rev Pinkcney’s strong will and urgency in life gave us the benefit of compassionate and determined leadership… He accomplished much in a short window. Everyone

We are stunned yet claim the spirit of Denmark Vesey who gathered in that very same church – We are determined to keep that legacy of standing against all that besmirches justice and ALL actions which attempt to make any of God’s children second class citizens. Please take note, that as history records that, ” white clergy and people of faith stood with Denmark Vesey in the 1800s”, people of all cultures, in standing with the AME Church today are joined with us in claiming that legacy.

All of us must re-commit to do all that we can to end the misuse of guns and confront the greed that allows the production of weapons of mass destruction. Gun violence in this nation is at epidemic proportions. Whenever there is an epidemic all resources are marshaled to stamp out the disease. This disease must be stamped out now.

When we gather in Charleston this summer, there will be an action agenda!

The Connectional Lay Organization joins with the Council of Bishops along with the entire AME Church family in soliciting your continued prayers. Let us keep the faith. Thank you for being here!

Barbara Hooker

Heavenly Father, You are intimately aware of the struggle we are  experiencing — the pain and the despair. You know the desire of our hearts for our Sister to be healed. We ask now for Your healing touch. We know that You are able and just like in Bible times, we ask for your healing. In Jesus Name.

Please remember Sister Barbara Hooker, the wife of Wilbert Hooker, Lincolnville AMEC, Raleigh,  in your daily prayers.

Mother’s Day Greetings

We want you to know that you’re one amazing person.
You are so good to the people in your life. So considerate and caring.
When you give, it’s easy to see that it comes straight from the heart . . .
and it gives everyone around you the gift of a nicer world to live in . . .
We love how strong you are inside. We always see that quality shine
in you, and it reassures me to know – even though you face hardships and
uncertainties just like many people do – there’s a way through and a
brighter day ahead. You’re my reminder to be a little more brave,
to not be so afraid, and to remember that things will turn out okay in
the long run.

We love the way you don’t let the crazy, difficult days get you down. I
admire your ability to put things in perspective. To laugh when you can.
To cry when you must. But always to try and make things better.
We hope you’ll never forget how much we treasure just being in this world
with you. And I love knowing that everyone else feels the same way we do.
To your friends, you are everything a friend should be.
To your family, we know you are dearly loved and trust the best.
You are such a deserving person. And we really hope that all days are
as beautiful and as bright … as the ones you inspire in other people’s lives.

Happy Mothers Day’s from Western North Carolina Conference Lay Organization
